Half year results for Ironmongery Direct, released this morning show the company is bucking the retail trend with turnover up 36% to £4.5m compared with £3.3m for the same period in 2008 and operating profits up 62% to £105k compared with £65k.
More than 2,000 products have been added to the company's range since January this year, and if the company's sales predictions are correct, the firm is on course to achieve a turnover in excess of £10m. Quite a feat considering total sales in 2008 were only £7.3m.
Managing director Wayne Lysaght-Mason said: "We are now definitely on track to beat last year's records for sales and profit. We are aiming to boost turnover this year to over £10m, that's an increase of 40%."
