Isaac Lord sold to private investors
Published: 12 November 2009
Award-winning tool retailer Isaac Lord has been sold, ending 117 years of ownership by the Lord family.
Following a detailed review, the Lord family have decided to retire from their business and, as a result, have sought new owners to continue the long tradition of Isaac Lord operations in High Wycombe.
The business has been acquired by Andrew Cripwell and David Abbott - two private investors who operate a number of businesses involved in the distribution of high-quality products.
The existing management team, led by Andrew Weiss, will remain in place and the message is that it will be 'business as usual'.
Commenting on the change of ownership Andrew Weiss said: "On a personal note I would just like to say that it has been a real pleasure working with Alan Lord over the last six years; he has been wonderfully supportive whilst allowing the team here to independently develop the business.
"Whilst I will miss his input I am also tremendously excited by the prospect of working with both Andrew and David, who have very quickly developed an empathy with what we do, and I am completely confident that the business will move forward under their ownership."
