With total sales up 18.1% for the week ending June 9, the department store proved an exception to the disappointment expressed by many retailers following the long, wet Bank holiday weekend.
Bosses at the store said "the combination of Bank holidays and rain was a great footfall driver for many shops." John Lewis at home stores did particularly well, with the Swindon outlet posting an increase of 50.9%, followed by Poole at +38.9% and Croydon at +37.7%.
Overall, John Lewis' home department increased its sales by 13.6%, boosted mainly by furniture and outdoor living sales.
Looking forward, the business is focused on making the most of the Olympics and Euro 2012 events this summer, and is about to start a mass Clearance, which is says should help "keep up great momentum on the sales front."
