John Lewis has launched product reviews on its website, with thousands of comments from both customers and staff going live on johnlewis.com yesterday.
The retailer has already had more than 25,000 reviews and is hoping to have 130,000 by the end of the year.

Commercial director Andrea O'Donnell said: "As a multichannel retailer it is a challenge to recreate the instore experience online. We have already introduced made-to-measure services, 'how to' videos and buying guides, and the launch of product reviews is a really exciting next stage. We have also approached customers as they are really keen to interact with us and we're thrilled that so many have shared their views."

She added: "We are always looking for new ways to find out what out customers think of our products and services and our buyers are excited about being able to receive real-time feedback. We will be acting on what customers say, be it positive or negative."

Sales at the company went up 4.7% year-on-year to £62m for the week to July 9, as cooler weather boosted footfall instore.

In home there was strong demand for all home accessory areas and textiles, with both clearance and full price trading well. Furniture had one of its best weeks, boosted by 'reduced to clear' in outdoor, and good performances in fitted furniture and living and dining.

Johnlewis.com continued its strong growth, with sales up 20% on last year. Orders placed for international delivery, launched last month, doubled on the week before, with France, Ireland and Spain the most popular countries so far. The retailer continues to expand its international delivery service, aiming for 20 countries by the end of August.
