Published: 24 June 2011
Department store reports a 9% sales uplift, as customers snap up bed and bath linen, as well as cooking and dining ranges ahead of clearance sale.
John Lewis reported sales of £57.02m for the week ended June 18, 2011, with home categories up 6.3% and electrical and home technology recording a 4.5% increase.

Despite the close proximity of John Lewis' clearance sale, which started this week, customers didn't put off purchases, with sales of beds up 21%, bed linen up 22% and bath linen up 20%. Cooking and dining also performed well, up 12% for the week. The retailer's wall décor offer was also up 18%, recording an increase for the fifth week in a row.

In electricals and home technology, small electrical led the pack, up 21%, while large electrical just missed out on double-digit sales growth.

Online sales also saw their best performance of the half year, up 45.6%.
