Department store chain reports uplift in demand for white goods, outdoor living and home ranges.
John Lewis' sales for the week ended June 12 saw a 15.3% increase to £52.93m, compared with the same seven-day period in 2009. The World Cup influenced sales of electrical and home technology, with TVs performing well, up 42% and white goods showing solid growth with value ranges.
Home was also up 10.8%, with furnishing textiles standing out, and floorcoverings and rugs particularly strong. Meanwhile, more settled summer weather drove excellent sales of picnicware and outdoor living assortments, said the retailer.
