John Lewis to create 500 jobs with online sales investment

Published: 6 September 2016

John Lewis has invested in its online services by opening two new distribution centres in Milton Keynes, expanding its Magna Park location, the Retail Gazette reports.
A total of 500 new warehouse jobs will be created with the expansion and a training facility for made available for staff.

John Lewis said deliveries had grown from four per cent of sales to 47 per cent in the last decade.

From last year online sales were up 21.4 per cent and the company stated it was processing 18 per cent more parcels over Black Friday in 2015 than the previous year.

"Our distribution centres are at the heart of our business and these advanced facilities enable us to adapt to the ever-evolving retail market," John Lewis operations manager Dino Rocos said.

"Customers want quick and convenient deliveries and fast replenishment of our shops, this investment puts us in a strong position for the years to come."
