Kenrick steps down as B&Q restructures board

Marketing director Jo Kenrick parts ways with company as it sets out new commercial agenda.
B&Q chief executive Euan Sutherland said: "Having grown our market share during 2008, now is the right time for B&Q to reform to sustain, and increase that growth in 2009. A restructure at board level will gear the business to be more commercially aligned and link customer insight and brand to our internal employee brand development in one team."
B&Q announced that Ms Kenrick will step down from her position as marketing director at the end of December, with her responsibilities handed to former Carphone Warehouse chief operating officer Rob Bacon.
Ms Kenrick joined the Kingfisher-owned company three years ago from Camelot where she held the position of marketing director. She was responsible for improving the effectiveness of B&Q's advertising, leading a return to using real employees in TV adverts. Ms Kenrick also successfully negotiated and secured the sponsorship of Channel 4's property programming, and is said to have contributed to a 30% year-on-year increase in sales on diy.com.
Mr Bacon will join the board as customer and employee brand director, bringing together customer and staff agendas.
