Kerstin Kamasa 1932 – 2023
Published: 11 January 2023 - Neil Mead
It is with great regret and sympathy we announce the passing of Kerstin Kamasa, a woman who was an Iconic and Inspirational woman who for many years made significant in-roads into the Tool and DIY Industry with her own brand Kamasa Tools, and helped many entrepreneurs start their own businesses.
Started with her husband Zygi Kamasa in the UK in 1972, bringing the early imported branded Kamasa products to the UK market in its radical green and red packing, adding the bold statement of “Tools with a lifetime Guarantee” enabled the brand to make rapid progress in to all the Major DIY stores and distribution channels, and was soon to be known as the Spanner & Socket set Name in the industry. Sadly, Zygi Kamasa passed away in 1976 and Kerstin carried the business forward whilst managing life with five children and a demanding workload.
Having travelled the world, meeting with manufacturing factories and attending National trade events in the Far East and Europe, speaking some six languages, becoming a well-respected and knowledgeable figure, and in those days as a woman with innovative and creative ideas in what was very much a man’s world, was an amazing achievement. This also had a major influence on some of today’s most successful brands who were challenged to compete with the Kamasa brand in head-to-head competition in the market place. She knew the owners and had the respect of major Brands such as Stanley, Draper, Rolson, Amtek, Silverline, Teng Tools…etc
In memory of an iconic woman, who touched the lives of so many in her incredible life.
RIP Kerstin Kamasa, born 8-7-1932 – died 6-1-2023
