Kingfisher board continues "evolution" with new appointments

Published: 19 September 2012
Following the home improvement retailer's announcement of a new senior management structure in February, three important additions have been made to its board.
Kingfisher board continues 'evolution' with new appointments
Euan Sutherland and Philippe Tible are to take up their positions as executive directors on October 1, and Karen Witts, who was named as group finance director in July, will also be officially appointed on that date.

Euan Sutherland joined the company in 2008 as ceo of B&Q and Kingfisher UK, going on to become group chief operating officer. Mr Tible is Kingfisher divisional ceo and responsible for the group's businesses in France, Poland, Russia and Spain. He joined Kingfisher in 2003 as chief executive of Castorama France.

The shake up follows the launch of the Creating the Leader plan in March. Kingfisher's chairman Daniel Bernard said: "We have a strong Board, diverse in skills, age and gender, and with an excellent mix of experience gained at Ikea, Tesco, Apple and Carrefour. I'm sure that Euan, Philippe and Karen will add to these strengths and I look forward to working with them."

Ian Cheshire said: "I am delighted to welcome Euan, Philippe and Karen to the Board. With Kevin O'Byrne (Kingfisher divisional ceo, B&Q) already a board member, it was natural that Euan and Philippe should follow suit as we pursue the next phase of our development through the Creating the Leader programme.

"I am proud of the strength in depth of the management team here at Kingfisher and that we have been able to promote from within for these board positions. These changes mean that all five of Kingfisher's group executive will now be on the main Board. I look forward to working with Euan, Philippe and Karen and the rest of the senior management team on delivering the Group's potential."

Dear Mr. Sutherland,
The Managers in Acton Store are extremely arrogant as they refused to give us a refund due to the fact the kitchen base unit was of wrong measurement. We contacted the Home delivery and spoke to the Manager Mr Kevin and he knew nothing of the fact that we cancelled the delivery, therefore he spoke to the manager and he arrange for our refund to be done in cash. However, when my mother and I went to the store we had to sign a letter banning us from all stores. I signed as I was afraid that they would not refundus but my mother refused to sign. We have been a vey loyal customer since the store opened in Alperton, we were one of the first customers. In actual fact I telephone other stores of B&Q and told us that for 18mm thick base unit has be ordered, therefore Acton did not tell us the truth that this was not 18mm thick to sustain a sit on sink as we showed the sink in the brochure before we purchased it. B&Q products are excellent but we wish not to return to Acton Stores but other stores when we require. We appreciate taken your time in reading our complaint as we have been very loyal customers for many many years.
Thank for you kind assistand in this matter and we look forward to hearing from you.
Yours sincerely
Sabina Atkinson
