Knights Garden Centre is launching a new-look website in a bid to build on its telephone ordering system.
Knights embraces internet age with new-look website
In the first few months the website will not show absolutely everything the centre stocks, however the intention is to launch with a very wide selection of gardening and diy materials.

"We expect the site to be very popular, given the delivery costs which will be very competitive, and especially for people living locally," a spokesperson for the company told diyweek.net.

The site will be fully transactional with Knights providing customers the capability to order and pay online.

Knights hopes to replicate the success of its DIY Centre, established in spring 2006, with the online venture.

Located in its own designated building on-site at Knights Garden Centres in Chelsham, the 880 sq feet (75.6 sq meters) store has seen a "very good trade with the flow through of garden centre customers".

"However the centre also attracts its own clientele," the spokesperson added. "Demand for diy materials has been high since the local diy shop in nearby Sanderstead closed around three years ago.

"Locals have been relieved that they no longer have to travel out to the towns such as Purley and Croydon for their diy gear.

Knights' DIY centre specialises in domestic DIY materials from painting to tiling, plumbing, and home security, and supplies typical goods to complete a job at home or in the garden.

Duncan Knight said: "The DIY Centre has added another string to our bow, and in combination with the garden centre and the landscape gardening department, helps us cater to more of our customers' home and gardening needs."
