LED Lenser breaks record for World's largest torch

On Sunday, September 25, the company unveiled the record-breaking torch at the Night of Lights Festival in Soligen, Germany.
The LED torch, which is nearly 4m long and weighs 216kg, incorporates 19 high-end LEDs that generate 100,000 lumens of light. A representative from the Guinness Book of World Records was on hand to witness the engineering feat and award LED Lenser with the record for The World's Largest Torch.
The torch was not only developed with size in mind, but also to highlight energy efficiency as well. Despite its size - roughly the length of a VW Golf car - the record-breaking torch consumed just 1000 watts of energy, which is equivalent to the energy consumption of a typical one-litre capacity kettle, said the company. It also has an LED life expectancy of around 100,000 hours, which adds up to more than eleven years of uninterrupted illumination.
