Family-owned independent department store chain Leekes announced a major revamp of its Cross Hands store, including the extensions of its restaurant, and a floor entirely dedicated to furniture studios.
Leekes has traded from the Cross Hands site for 30 years and believes the planned enhancements will improve customer experience for years to come, delivering a completely new look for the store and a significantly extended range of goods for the home.
The makeover is planned to take place next month and will include Wales' largest conservatory display, a new 'sleep zone' with an extensive selection of beds, bedframes and bedroom furniture, as well as a floor dedicated solely to furniture studios from leading brands.
Cross Hand's in-house restaurant will also get a makeover, with a brand new menu, and a further 40 covers, taking it from 60 to 100.
To complement the new-look store, customers will also benefit from a newly-landscaped car park, entrance and exit, all with disabled access.
Over the last five years Leekes has concentrated on expanding its business in the Midlands, but is now committed to a programme of refurbishment in its Welsh stores, starting with Cross Hands.
Leekes managing director Emma Leeke said: "This exciting £1 million refurbishment, will ensure we offer our Cross Hands customers only the very best. We have big plans for the store in terms of appearance, layout and product offering. Not only will we be introducing a refreshed and welcoming new look, but we will also be totally expanding our product range and improving on the already-great services we have offered for the last 30 years. The designs include a state-of-the-art conservatory studio, an on-trend furniture floor, a dedicated sleep zone, a great range of accessories, a revamped restaurant and new tills, entrance and exit."
She added: "The Leekes vision is one of growth, expansion and quality service and we're firmly focused on keeping the business in this direction. We are incredibly excited to see the reaction of our customers to the refurbishment and we look forward to welcoming even more people into our store."
To undergo the planned changes, Leekes will launch a 'Great £5 million Clearance Event', which will see its existing merchandise sold at drastically reduced sale prices.
Cross Hands closes today (Friday, May 17) to mark down prices on product ranges, including sofas, beds, dining room furniture and tableware. The store will reopen on Friday, May 24 to launch the clearance event ahead of the refurbishment.
