Leekes announced today that it has reached agreement to purchase Bristol-based business Park Furnishers.
Five-store chain Leekes has been actively expanding its business in recent years following the 2009 acquisition of Midlands-based Coles of Bilston.
A spokesperson for Leekes told DIYWeek.net that there were "no immediate changes planned" following the acquisition, and that it will remain "business as usual" at Park Furnishers for the time being.
Managing director Emma Leeke said: "We have been looking for new opportunities to continue our expansion plans and we are delighted to have been able to reach agreement with the Coller family to purchase Park Furnishers.
"We were attracted to the family owned business, established by Len Coller in 1976 and developed with his son Deryn and grandsons Tim and James, as it was founded and run on the same strong guiding principles as ours of offering quality products at great prices. We intend to continue to trade under the Park Furnishers name which is also synonymous with offering an excellent level of service to its loyal and expanding customer base."
Park Furnishers md Tim Coller said: " We have been impressed with the professionalism of the team from Leekes during our discussions and we are confident that our business is in safe hands.
"I would like to pay tribute to the staff at Park, many of whom have worked with us for many years and helped us grow our business during that time. I am confident that the business will continue this growth and develop further under the ownership of Leekes."
