Local DIY store announces expansion

After 28 years of business, GJ’s has fought back against the high-street demise by carrying out an expansion plan - almost tripling its original size. The winning formula of great customer service, discounted prices and an extended product offering, the company said, has enabled them to grow a large customer following and unrivalled success in the town.
Store owner, Rebecca Nichols-Green commented: "It’s been a long road from concept to completion, but we are finally there! The aim all along has been to create a unique shopping experience for anyone interested in DIY, tools, automotive and home and garden without losing our basic formula of amazing value with a smile. Come along and see what my excellent team and supplier support have helped me to achieve. Stay a while, enjoy browsing and let us help you enjoy real shopping again. We are proud of what we have done, proud to be in Alfreton and proud to be shopkeepers.”
The expansion started in March this year and the store owner has since been working closely with their suppliers to make the most of the new extension. There is a particular focus on Silverline tools, with a huge area dedicated to the brand. Silverline has titled GJ’s one of their key ‘Premier Stockists’ and will be partnering with them on the upcoming launch day.
Silverline brand manager, Rob Henry said: “What the GJ’s team has achieved here is fantastic! Not just in terms of the store expansion, but also as an independent retailer growing its business despite the tough market conditions and increased competition from bigger retail chains. The investment they have made is more than just in the store, it’s in their community, and Silverline Tools is proud to support this project and proud to have GJ’s as one of our Premier Stockists.”
The launch will include a chance to win a 40” TV, and product demos by Silverline’s brand ambassador Craig Phillips.
The stores launch will take place on October 20 from 10am – 5pm. Find GJ’s on Mansfield Road, Alfreton.
