Environmental and ethical accreditation scheme for the selection of garden furniture and barbecues
LOFA has created a set of standards that will identify garden furniture and barbecue products manufactured under certain environmental conditions.
The environmental and ethical accreditation scheme, using the working title LOFAmark, aims to satiate consumer and retailer demand for more sustainable products and in turn help both choose products that are environmentally and ethically sound.
Consumers will see the fully-formed scheme in 2010.
This is the first year the program will be seen in the market and after initial work with expert Dr Alan Knight OBE, LOFA is inviting retailers for their thoughts as well as seeking soundings from its members, environmental organisations and other interested parties.
Members will be presented with a final format in January 2009. Retailers will see accredited products at the start of the 2009/2010 season.
