Abranet dust free sanding has won Silver in the Hand Tools category at the DIY Week 2008 Industry awards. Now in their 21st year, these prestigious awards celebrate the cream of the year's innovative new products in the diy, hardware and housewares industries.
The award was presented by Koelnmesse, sponsors of the category, at the Royal Lancaster on May 9th in the company of representatives from all three sectors.
Judges looked for genuinely new and innovative products that were well made from good quality materials and were well packaged. Critically, products had to meet all claims for performance and offer real benefits to users. Assessment also took in both RRP and trade pricing that had to be right for the market while allowing a respectable margin for retailers.
Abranet is a patented net abrasive that allows super efficient dust extraction through many thousands of minuscule holes. The system comprises a sanding block, Abranet sanding strip and flexible hose that connects to a vacuum cleaner. During sanding the vacuum simply sucks away the dust.
Arguably the most important development in the history of sandpaper, Abranet dust free sanding enables dust free preparation of surfaces for decoration, which translates into a healthier working environment, quicker clean up and no dust sheets. A consistently even surface is achieved every time. It has the potential to make a difference and open the door to new business opportunities for painters and decorators who can quote for 'Dust free decorating'.
Starter kit pack prices start at £29.99 inc. VAT. A pack of ten sanding strips is also available at £7.35 inc. VAT. Optional accessories include an anti-static telescopic pole sander, three sizes of hand block and a heavy duty vacuum cleaner should it be required.
