Major overnight blaze at Shropshire timber firm
Published: 3 February 2016
More than 40 firefighters and six fire engines attended a major blaze at Shropshire timber and fencing supplier Tafs Garden Co last night.
The fire broke out shortly after 9pm yesterday in the external building supplies area of the Telford business. It involved a large quantity of wood and acetylene cylinders, with smoke and embers being spread out over the surrounding area.
Site machinery is now being used to break down the timber stacks to help damp down the area.
A 200m cordon was put in place, and police have been talking to local residents. An investigation is now underway.
Tafs Garden Co manufactures fencing, but over the years has expanded into other areas including concrete products, paving, aggregates and sheds.
