A 26-year-old man from Grays, Essex, has been arrested on suspicion of arson following a devastating fire at a warehouse of the electrical distributor, Jegs.
The blaze, which started on December 22, destroyed stock in the Eastwood depot estimated to have a retail value of £3m. More than 100 firefighters tackled the flames.
The electrical wholesaler has assured staff they will have a job once the warehouse is rebuilt.
Managing director, Martin Gibbons, who started the company, said he was 'shattered and numb', but vowed to have the business back to some normality as soon as possible.
Jegs has thanked its customers for their 'loyal and vocal support', and said it has located a temporary base whilst it rebuilds the company for the future.
In a statement the company added that a new website will be launched by February.
Claire Cherry, chief executive officer at the company, told local papers that the firm’s database is still operational, and that Jegs will run ‘some sort of service, although we won't be up to full capacity for some time’.
