Mica members and suppliers bring home the gold

The award ceremony followed the annual Mica Gala dinner held at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel in St Hellier, Jersey. Mica retailers presented the supplier awards, with Mica staff on hand to present the retailer awards. The evening was compered by guest speaker and South African Futurist Graeme Codrington.

Supplier Awards
Best New/Improved Supplier - presented by Charanjeet Bhachu, of Greenford Timber Mica
For suppliers who have developed their business with Mica Members the most over the last year.

There was also a special 20 Year Partnership Award, presented by Caryl Mutimer of Merlin Mica Hardware, to two suppliers in attendance who were featured on the very first leaflet. Dulux & Polycell products from Akzo Nobel (then ICI) and Nitromors and Solvite from Henkel.

Co-operative Spirit Award - presented by Steve Ball, Mica Commercial Manager
This award is kept as a surprise for the night, and this year went to a married couple who have been long standing Mica Members, and have amongst other things hosted regional meetings, served on the Mica board and promotions committee, as well as being a committed purchaser group and Mica marketer.

There was also a special 20 Year Award for Mica Retailers who featured on that very first leaflet back in 1996, presented by Mica CEO Michael Ball.

The awards were closed with the draw for a Rainy Day Trust raffle, which raised over £700 for Mica’s partner charity. Prizes were supplied by Mica, Percy Doughty and the main prize of a Red Letter Day Out from Akzo Nobel, which won by Gary Taggart of Crown Paints.
