National Homebuilding & Renovating Show returns to offer property advice and inspiration to homeowners

Published: 7 February 2022 - James Mead

With house prices in the West Midlands predicted to rise by a potential 29 per cent in 10 years, homeowners say they will spend more on the value of properties in the future.

Such is the interest in self-build and renovation to add greater value to homes, more than 250 exhibitors showcasing thousands of products have signed up to take part in the National Homebuilding & Renovating Show, sponsored by Spectrum, between 24-27 March 2022, which is making its long-awaited return to the NEC, Birmingham.

Show data reveals that two out of three Brits were inspired during lockdown to carry out work on their homes.  More than 85 per cent continued to research their projects during this time and 65 per cent put aside the same budget as before to carry out their plans.  With architecture and design projects, builders/contractors, garden/landscaping, doors/windows, kitchen, heating and flooring among people’s top interests, the Homebuilding & Renovating Show will offer visitors an array of products, services and assistance to help them realise their property ambitions.

There will be an array of theatres, masterclasses and seminars to help visitors create the spaces they want to live in.  The Masterclass Theatre will offer them the chance to learn more about subjects such as creating a sustainable home, choosing the right structures for a project, finding and evaluating land, and more. The Home Improvement Theatre, sponsored by Korniche, will impart useful wisdom on all things interior design, kitchens & bathrooms, renovations and extensions.  The Self-Build Theatre will address in-depth topics ranging from a beginner’s guide on renovation to the best way to manage tradespeople.?

A key area at the show is The Advice Centre, which abounds with impartial guidance for those interested in discussing their project ideas with industry leaders. Visitors keen to find out more about the design, planning and construction process are recommended to book an Ask the Architect consultation, where chartered specialists can assist with consumers’ specific issues. Members of the Federation of Master Builders will guide people booking an Ask the Builder session on hiring accredited, highly skilled construction workers.???

For more general tips on all aspects associated with self-build and renovation, 15-minute Ask the Expert consultations are available through interactive sessions with property experts Michael Holmes and Jason Orme; eco expert David Hilton; design expert Allan Corfield, building expert Bob Branscombe, and planning expert Sally Tagg.  Sally will also be present at The Planning Clinic, where people can find out the tactics to a successful, straightforward planning process. People who have successfully finished a project will also be present to share their experiences with those at the beginning of their journey.?

All visitors are assured that the safety and wellbeing of attendees and staff remains a priority. Every aspect of the event complies strictly with the latest Government official guidelines. Key information on attending the show and any regulations people need to follow while attending will be updated on the website. There is also an app, available on iPhone and Android, that can assist people in browsing the venue with confidence, in a Covid-safe environment. They will be able to schedule and receive alerts for key seminars and masterclasses, browse through the list of experts and exhibitors available and access the latest offers and information.??
