New £10m ad campaign for B&Q sees iconic orange apron take centre stage

B&Q's new 'Unleash the B&Q in you' campaign aims to motivate customers to tackle home improvement projects this Easter.
New £10m ad campaign for B&Q sees iconic orange apron take centre stage
The comical ad sees uninspired-looking people attempt DIY projects such as painting or gardening. But as soon as they throw on their orange apron and stand proudly on an orange B&Q bucket they suddenly develop a can do attitude and can tackle the projects which have been bothering them.

The campaign is the first under B&Q's marketing director Chris Moss, who joined the company in October last year.

He explains: "Empowering people to pick up those home improvement tasks has been central to B&Q's DNA for 45 years. It's time to inspire people to get up of the sofa and unleash the gardener, painter or barbecuer.

"We all have it in us to be great DIYers, sometimes we just need a little motivation and some helpful advice - which is where B&Q comes in. At the heart of the advert is the iconic orange apron, something that our staff proudly wear, and which symbolises the can do attitude the brand encourages people to unleash towards their DIY projects."

The ad campaign is accompanied by adverts highlighting B&Q's extensive paint range and the new EasyGrow Teabag Technology bedding plants.

Passionate gardener and star of TV's Silent Witness, Emilia Fox appears in a YouTube video about green gardening.

In the video she explores the effect peat and polystyrene has on the environment, while promoting the benefits of the peat-free EasyGrow Teabag Technology developed by B&Q.

B&Q's bedding plants now come in 100% recyclable packing, which decomposes in the ground. The plants are also rooted in 95% peat-free compost.

you can currently buy a B&Q apron in most large stores with a puddly stamp on. Costs 7, that is unfortunately the only way off getting an apron without working for them

My. Husband is a very regular customer to b&q, we always joke about his weekend visits to your store in Lincoln
My question is can we purchase an apron as we think it would make his day to open one as a gift on Christmas Day, if not how about a t.shirt
