New appointments at Dobbies

Three Tesco executive managers given board positions at Dobbies.
Dobbies has announced the appointment and resignation of non-executive directors.
The garden centre chain now has Lucy Neville-Rolfe as non-executive chairman of Dobbies (executive director corporate and legal affairs of Tesco); Jonathan Lloyd (company secretary of Tesco) and Eamonn O'Hare, (UK finance director of Tesco) as non-executive directors.
Dobbies also announced that Johnny Trotter, William Thomson and David Stevenson have resigned from their positions as
non-executive directors of Dobbies and Alex Hammond-Chambers has resigned from his position as non-executive director and chairman of Dobbies.
Sharon Brown, finance director, remains.
In the statement, chief executive James Barnes repeated the business's aim of becoming 'the leading garden and homes retailer in the UK'.
"Our ambition is to raise the growth rate of the business in the coming years, through new site developments, by acquisitions as and when appropriate, and via our new internet business," he added.
"These steps, combined with a focus on economies of scale and improved margins, give us cause for some excitement about the future."
