Former Kingfisher ceo Sir Ian Cheshire has been appointed the chairman-designate for Barclay's UK operations.
Sir Ian, who will also become a non-executive director on the Barclays board from April, will oversee business incorporating Barclay's high street branch network as well as its business banking and Barclaycard operations in the home market.
Barclays chairman John McFarlane, who oversees the wider Barclays group, said, “[Sir Ian] brings an excellent track record of success as both a chief executive and chairman and broad experience as a non-executive director."
