New 'green' Tesco to create 320 jobs
Tesco bosses have pledged that a new supermarket, designed to be the 'greenest' in the chain, will create at least 320 jobs.

The estimate includes around 185 new full-time jobs along with an existing 135 employees who currently work at Tesco in South Road, which is due to close. A spokesman for the company suggested that more jobs could be created.

The Tesco store will be constructed using recyclable materials, will recycle water and even power its tills using wind turbines.

The supermarket chain will exhibit plans and artist's impressions of the multi-million pound development on Wednesday at Noddfa Community Centre to allow the people of Caernarfon to have their say.

Following this, the company will seek planning permission from Caernarfon Town and Gwynedd Councils.

A spokesman for Tesco, Roy Thomas, told the Daily Post North Wales: "This is the latest environmentally-friendly store. There's only one other, in Cheetham Hill, Manchester...It will use half the energy of the current stores."
