New primetime DIY TV show set for launch

Published: 11 January 2013
The DIY trade could be set for a boost as a new home makeover series prepares to launch on primetime television.
According to The Daily Mail, the ITV show will be a cross between Britain's Got Talent and Changing Rooms - the hugely successful programme that ran for years and created a boom in DIY and interior decor. A panel of three judges will vote on home decorating efforts.

The presenter of the series will be Christine Bleakley, of the Dancing on Ice series and The One Show, and it will be produced by the team behind BBC2's The Great British Bake Off - which has created a surge of interest in home baking.

"This show is all about the practical skills that we as a nation have lost," Ms Bleakley told The Mail.

A pilot episode for the series has reportedly been made already and another is due to be filmed soon.
