The fire was reported at around 2.40am, according to Kent police, who pointed out that a number of buildings on the site had been broken into and petrol-fuelled gardening equipment had been stolen.

Said a Kent police spokesperson: "A vehicle is believed to have been used in the incident. Enquiries into both the fire and reported burglaries are ongoing, and officers would particularly like to hear from anyone who may have CCTV covering Cockreed Lane or the surrounding roads."

Four fire engines were called out to the scene, with the main focus of the fire taking place in a 24m x 12m greenhouse.
