Following the retirement by rotation of Mica's Scottish director Colin Jenkins, the co-operative group has now announced that Paul Walker will be taking his seat at the first board meeting since the AGM later this month.
Mr Walker has run his business, Walkers Mica Home & Garden in Dunoon, Argyll, with his brother Ian for the last two decades.
Said Mica chairman David Morris: "I've known Paul for a number of years as a fellow retailer, at Mica meetings etc, and know what an excellent business he has built with Ian. I look forward to his input at board level."
Mica also paid tribute to Mr Jenkins, who it said had made a significant contribution to the group, bringing his extensive retail experience to the table. He is now semi-retired, with his son Nick taking a more active role in running the shop business.
Mica CEO Steve Ball said: "I would like to thank Colin for his many years of service to Mica members by serving on the board and one to one, and wish him a very happy retirement - when he gets there - with his wife Rosaleen. They have been a fixture of Mica meetings for many years and when they eventually stop attending will most certainly be missed."
