Justlawnmowers and Flaming Barbecues top traffic searches.
Niche and specialist sites have been the winners online over the recent week of sunny weather.
According to research director Robin Goad at Hitwise, sites paying for searches of summer essentials such as justlawnmowers and Flaming Barbecues picked up healthy percentages of traffic.
"For example, www.justlawnmowers.co.uk paid for 28% of its traffic from the term 'lawnmowers' and 47% from 'lawn mowers'; whereas Flaming Barbecues paid for 95% of its traffic from 'bbq' and 87% from 'barbeque'," he said in his blog.
Mr Goad pointed out that Flaming Barbecues benefited from people's misspellings and variations of popular terms.
Of the top 10 terms used – from 'bbq', 'gas bbq', 'barbeques', to 'barbecues' – traffic was being sent to Flaming Barbecues, a site that is also benefiting from 'significant organic traffic'.
Hitwise – the web traffic analyst and marketing business – also found that searches for 'bbq' and 'lawn mower' reached a higher peak this year than at any point last summer.
