NMBS dinner raises thousands for Rainy Day Trust

Prize draw at dinner dance event brings in £20,000 for buying group's chosen charities RDT and Crash.
Guests at the 39th annual NMBS dinner dance event enjoyed talks from NMBS non-executive chairman Tim Allen and md Chris Hayward, who presented the first 'I Love Independents' Awards ceremony.
Prize draws on the night helped raise a collective total of £20,000 for industry charity the Rainy Day Trust and homeless aid organisation Crash. The prize from the main draw, which was sponsored by Makita, was won by Ray Dix from Calder, who went home with an Apple Bundle, complete with an iPad 2.
Entertainment was provided by soul singer Beverley Knight and musical theatre group Beyond the Barricade.
Guests also took part in a silent auction, with the proceeds going to the Rainy Day Trust, and a Table Auction of signed copies of Beverley Knight CDs which also helped to raise £3,000 for Breast Cancer Care.
