Obituary: Charles Harrison

Published: 20 July 2011
Charles Harrison, founder and managing director of CAT Enterprises, died suddenly on Tuesday July 19 after suffering a heart attack. He was 55.
Obituary: Charles Harrison
Mr Harrison spent many years in the housewares industry as sales director and later managing director of the microwave cookware specialist Microwise. He left in 2002, and the following year set up CAT Enterprises as a competitor to Microwise, subsequently branching out into product sectors like pest control.

He was briefly a director of BHETA (then known as BHHMA) in 1998-99), and made a spirited but unsuccessful attempt to rejoin the board last year when he stood for election not only as a director but also as president.

"I'm going to miss him terribly," said a colleague in the industry. "He was cantankerous, awkward - and wonderful."

No funeral details have yet been confirmed; as and when they are available they will be published on housewareslive and diyweek.net.

It was with great sadness, that I came off holiday to find out the terrible news of Charles passing away.
I've known Charles for many years, from delivering into Microwise, then delivering for Cat Enterprises.
Charles was a true gent, and always treated very well, and i'll truly miss him.
RIP Charles
With fond memories

I've known Charles for over 20 years, he was an honourable man and will be missed. It was always nice to see him at industry Exhibitions and they will never be the same again! He will be greatly missed and my thoughts are with his family.

Everybody at Lakeland will miss Charles' wit, fun and being a great supplier to us. He was a true gentleman and housewares will be very much poorer by his passing. I find it difficult to imagine a housewares fair without him.

Agreed, such sad news.

A thoroughly decent bloke who I had the pleasure of dealing with many times and who was always courteous, honourable and fair.

What a great shame and my thoughts and prayers go out to his family.

What sad, sad news.

Charles, in my opinion, was a man with one of the highest personal moral codes around.

I am sure that the industry will miss him. I certainly will and I pass on my condolences to his family at this very sad time for them.
