Obituary: Deborah Jennings
Published: 8 October 2012
Deborah Jennings, a director of Jackloc and described as "a pioneering businesswoman", has died at the age of 44.
Jackloc is the award-winning Leicestershire firm which distributes its own unique cable window restrictors. They were designed by Ms Jennings' father Derek Horne 10 years ago, and she was key to the marketing of what was the first life-saving window lock of its kind in the UK.
She and her sisters Emma Wells and Judith Burrows established a strong market for the product, building up Jackloc to become a leader in its field and a successful international business, with orders from as far afield as Russia, Mexico, Arabia, Malaysia and Australia.
Ms Jennings lost her four-year battle with breast cancer, and leaves her husband Paul, 11-year-old daughter Madeline and 13-year-old-son Jack, who was the inspiration for the Jackloc name.
Ms Jennings' sister Emma Wells said: "Deborah was a driving force in the business and an inspiration to all around her, both personally and professionally.
"We are totally committed to the business and passionate in spreading the word about safety. Although we will all miss Deborah enormously, she has left a lasting legacy and, in tribute to her, we will now throw our emotional energies into driving the business forward."
