76% of online retailers have seen an increase in sales over the last 12 months.
Performance on the high street may be faltering with a slowdown in consumer spending but according to a recent survey, online business is booming. In fact, 46% of respondents have increased their sales by over 20%.
The research, carried out by retail software solution company Maginus, also revealed the benefit of multi channel shopping. The report found that 84% of companies actually gained more from their multi-channel shoppers than those who only used one channel.
Maginus sales and marketing director Russell Dorset says that internet shopping shows no signs of slowing and retailers must adapt to meet customer needs.
"Consumers have so much choice available to them that retailers must make sure they offer customers the choice of shopping via multiple channels so they can buy their goods in their preferred way."
More than three quarters of respondents who already have an online presence are planning to revamp their company website over the course of the next year.
Dorset adds: "Retailers may want to consider not only redesigning sites but also how to be better prepared for an upsurge in traffic as their businesses grow.
"Slow server response or downtime on an e-commerce website may result in a lost sale, or even worse, a poor customer experience may mean a customer never visits your site again."
