A successful chain of open pit BBQ restaurants - the first of its kind in the UK - is to open a site in Glasgow after proving popular in Sheffield and Leeds.
Man Vs Food fan Sean Gregory came up with the idea for 'Smoke' after seeing the popularity for open pit BBQ cuisine in the USA. He travelled over there to find out more about real wood fire pit cooking and realised there was a niche market for it in the UK.
The Glasgow-based 4,462 sq ft, 152 cover Smoke will open next week. Said Mr Gregory: "After hugely successful launches in both Sheffield and Leeds, I spotted a real opportunity for expansion into the Glasgow market.
"The city has one of the most vibrant foodie scenes in the UK so for me, it was a no brainer to look at opening a restaurant there."
Mr Gregory and his business partner Duka Nagy have plans for a further 12 restaurants opening across the UK by 2020.
