It has been revealed that former Totally exhibition director Paul Grinsell will take up the role vacated by Peter Stone in August.
Mr Grinsell, who parted ways with Totally DIY & Totally Tools organiser Brintex last month, will start with the British Home Enhancement Trade Association on Monday, October 5.
He told DIY Week that he is "delighted" to be taking up the role and has been overwhelmed by the reaction from those within the trade association to the news.
Mr Grinsell brings a wealth of experience to the role, having worked in the home improvement industry for more than 18 years. Until recently he was Totally DIY and Totally Tools exhibition and sales director. Prior to that he worked in industry publishing with roles at Miller Freeman, Morgan Grampian and Benn Publications respectively
Peter Stone stepped down this summer after more than five years with BHETA to take up a newly-created position at Centurion Europe as sales and marketing director.
Commenting on the appointment, BHETA executive chairman David Smyth said: "Paul has worked extensively at senior level across all sectors of the DIY, gardening and builders merchant industries. As BHETA seeks more opportunities for growth in both home improvement and related sectors like garden and building products, he will bring much valuable experience to the team in terms of profile, contacts and market knowledge both in the UK and overseas."
Mr Grinsell added: "I am thrilled to be taking on this role. BHETA has developed so much over the past few years especially with its retail engagement programme of networking forums and meet the buyer events and I am looking forward to working with the team to continue taking its services forward. I believe BHETA is providing its supplier and manufacturer members with a great combination of support and opportunity and that we can deliver that same level value to retailers to the mutual advantage of all."
