Sir Paul McCartney revealed he likes to shop in B&Q in a recent interview with BBC Radio 4's Today programme.
Sir Paul said it was possible to live a normal life despite his global fame, thanks to one or two personal rules. He refuses to sign autographs when he's shopping but has found that most people are "very understanding" of his need for privacy.
"I'm quite happy to talk to people on a one-to-one, human basis," he said. "But the minute they turn me into this celebrity I'm pretending not to be for that minute, I sort of say, 'No, I'm not going to do that'... I'm looking for some nails and they've got to be three inches long for the job I'm doing, and there's no way I'm going to find them when I'm chatting to you and having my photo taken."
When asked if he really shops for his own DIY products Sir Paul replied: "Yes, in B&Q. And it's funny because people don't expect me to do that."
