Pet crazy Brits ruled by their animals

1.5 million owners admit their pets rule the household and schedule their lives around the cat or dog
British pet owners are literally letting their animals take over their lives, a recent survey by Halifax Pet Insurance said.
Findings reported that 2.8million British couples share their bed with the pet cat or dog, often resulting in their furry friend getting a better night's sleep in the best spot on the bed.
Over 1.1million pet owners actually go to the trouble of preparing fresh dinners for their pets, with over 650,000 who admitted to cooking for their pet more often than for family or a partner.
The term puppy love is given a literal meaning after the survey revealed that over one million Britons acquired a pet as a substitute for having children or a partner.
With 1.5million owners admitting that their pet rules the house and that the animal dictates everything from when they eat to what time they go to bed, it is little wonder that Halifax reported that over 600,000 Brits suffer from 'Pet Separation Syndrome' when they are away on holiday.
According to the survey, some owners even go as far as to call home to speak to their pets when they travel.
