Architect practice The Harris Partnership has completed designs for a new 45,000sq ft B&Q store on Cardinal Point retail park in Tamworth.
The Cardinal Point scheme, which is being brought forward by Royal London Asset Management, received planning permission more than 18 months ago, and will boast 100,000sq ft of retail space when it is completed.
Home and fashion chain Next will occupy a 10,000sq ft premises close to the new B&Q store, with Maplin taking an adjacent unit. In addition, a terrace of speculative trade units will also be brought forward as part of a Section 106 agreement with the local authority.
The B&Q store has been designed to a custom specification and will boast the latest in B&Q store design to meet the company's environmental and sustainability requirements.
Harris Partnership managing director Mike Schorah said: "We are delighted at being appointed to assist in the delivery of this exciting retail project. We have a long-standing relationship with RLAM, and have been involved on several of their schemes over the past few years. We have also designed in excess of 60 B&Q stores, so we have a very sound knowledge of what is required to give them excellent functionality combined with a strong identity."
