Positive start for Topps

Published: 11 January 2011
Chairman Barry Bester will tell shareholders at today's agm that Topps Tiles like-for-like revenues for the first 13 weeks of its financial year increased 2.2%.
This is despite the impact of the weather last month. "We experienced some disruption during December from the extreme weather conditions," Mr Bester said in a statement released this morning, "and I feel the business has responded well during a testing period. Against this context I am particularly satisfied with the performance over the period as a whole."

He added that there had been no further significant changes in the financial position of the group since full year results were announced in November.

Looking forward, he said the group was "pursuing prudent expansion" of the store portfolio with approximately 10 openings anticipated for this financial year. The store estate currently stands at 312.
