Possible store closure for B&Q
Published: 18 November 2013
B&Q could be closing its store in Dundee as its lease on the unit expires in March 2015.
The company's Kingsway East store is on a retail park that is owned by Threadneedle Investments, which has said it has been marketing the unit for more than 18 months.
Diyweek.net reported in August that
discount retailer B&M Bargains was eyeing up the space. An application has also been made to lift the restrictions on the sale of food, clothing and toys, which would allow B&M to take the unit on.
A B&Q spokesperson has said that the company is "constantly reviewing its stores".
"However, no decision has been made to close the Kingsway East store at this time. The lease for Kingsway East expires in March 2015 so, as per usual company procedure, we will review our position closer to this date."
