Having been given the go-ahead in its acquisition of 99p Stores Ltd, Poundland has now launched an online store boasting 2,000 products and no minimum order.
The launch follows hot on the heels of news that the Competition and Markets Authority (CMA) had provisionally cleared Poundland's proposed £55m takeover of the 99p Stores chain, with the ecommerce site created in response to customer demand, said the company.

More than 2,000 products are now available to buy from poundland.co.uk, across everything from household products to health and beauty and FMCG lines, as well as a number of exclusive and seasonal categories, including children's party, entertainment and extensive Christmas and Halloween ranges.

Customers will be able to shop more than 1,000 top brands, as well as the Jane Asher bakeware collection and Tommy Walsh DIY:time range - both of which are exclusive to Poundland.

The site, which is currently only available to UK residents boasts a 'Shopping made easy' function whereby products are grouped into categories to make it quicker and easier to select, a 'Shuffle' button, which offers shoppers a randomised way to experience the Poundland range and a digital scratchcard with every order that gives customers the opportunity to win a variety of offers, including free delivery and money off.

There is no minimum order value on the site and delivery is just £4 or free when customers spend more than £50. Poundland is also planning to trial a click and collect service next year.

The discount retailer, which currently serves over 5.3 million customers every week in its stores across the UK, expects the online venture to help reach consumers without a store in their area and provide a convenient and easy way for customers to access its range.
