Globus (Shetland) is extending its presence in the personal protective equipment (PPE) industry with the acquisition of Alpha Solway.
The company, headquartered in Dumfriesshire, is a leading manufacturer and supplier of specialist chemical protective clothing and disposable respiratory products.
It offers a range of off-the-shelf garments and also works with its customers to develop bespoke items designed to specification. Alpha Solway's products are available throughout the UK, Europe and the rest of the world.
Over the past two decades Globus - a multi-million pound international business consistently achieving double-digit turnover growth - has become a significant force in the hand protection industry.
Speaking about the acquisition Globus Group CEO Haraldur Agustsson said: "The introduction of Alpha Solway further extends our portfolio, enabling us to offer a comprehensive range of high-performance PPE to new and existing clients.
"Alpha Solway was selected as an acquisition partner as it has a complementary attitude and focus on the development of innovative products that are designed to keep people safe and comfortable in hazardous environments. Together we will make an even stronger force."
Following the acquisition, which was completed for an undisclosed sum, Globus will maintain Alpha Solway's staff and offices, which will run alongside its own headquarters in Manchester and regional operations in Dubai.
