Pre-Christmas opening for Frosts' energy-efficient garden centre
Frosts Garden Centre is claiming a first in the garden sector, and the UK, with its first Energy 'A-Rated' garden centre retail building.

The new building, presently under construction at Frosts at Woburn Sands will be brought into operation for Christmas 2008.

Frosts has made a commitment to reduce energy and CO2 emissions as far as possible, and have started with this new development designed to be as energy efficient as possible via the integration of various green principles including insulated sustainable timber building fabric, natural passive ventilation for sales areas and office space, and low-energy lighting.

"The result will be an exciting low energy building which will complement the collection of buildings on site," Frosts said.

This latest project is part of a £2m development to add a food shop, flower shop, coffee shop and extensive garden care department to the garden centre.

Frosts is a family-owned, award-winning garden centre just outside Milton Keynes with an annual turnover of £6m. The business was founded in 1946 by Harvey Frost.
