Ironmongery Direct has reported a significant rise in operating profit for the first half of 2010.
The company announced a 63% increase in operating profit to £261,000, while turnover rose 30% to £5.7m, compared with £4.4m for the same period in 2009.
Managing director Wayne Lysaght-Mason said: "We are on target for a sixth year of consecutive growth, with company plans on track for turnover of £50m in 2015. Our sustained growth is a direct result of our obsession for delivering service excellence. We are committed to providing outstanding customer service and this is reflected not only in sales growth but also in our increased customer base, which was up by 44% in 2009. It has been a tough market, but we have risen to this challenge."
The company says it has made significant investment in both processes and people, which has supported this growth. A new content management system was implemented at the end of 2009 to synchronise sales channels and streamline catalogue creation and web content. The company has also seen considerable increase in its online turnover, which has grown by 87%.
