Retailer Wilko has opened in Llandudno - with nearly 100 people queuing up to be among the first to get inside.

The retailer has signed a lease for a new 8,300 sq ft shop at Mostyn Champneys retail park.

There are 45 staff at the unit, creating opportunities for both locals and existing team members from nearby stores as the brand restructures its network of shops.

To mark the launch, there were special offers for the first 100 customers through the doors and dozens of people were waiting outside for the doors to open.

Wilko Llandudno manager Maria Haggas said: “We are very excited to welcome the customers to come and see our wide range of products at everyday stay low prices.

"We know shoppers will be impressed by the quality and value we have to offer this autumn.

“It’s the perfect time to come and browse our collections."

Wilko - which is headquartered in Worksop - launched numerous new stores across the UK in 2017.
