Michael Dark of Michael Dark Associates, who organises the event, said: "We were in fantastic surroundings at the Brocket Hall Golf Club, the threatened downpour held off, with just the odd brief shower, and the golf itself was absolutely great, with 24 of our guests beating the resident golf pro and bagging a bottle of champagne apiece!"

Top players on the AkzoNobel-sponsored day were James Smith of Ronseal, who won Back Nine, Jon Hill of Spear & Jackson, who won Nearest the Pin, Jon Coe of Valspar, who won Longest Drive, Justin Philips, guest of the Business Design Centre, who was the individual runner-up and the overall winner, John Martin of Sunflex.

Other sponsors of the event, held in aid of the DIY and housewares industry charity, were Crown Paints, Valspar/Plasti-Kote, Sunflex, Henkel, the Business Design Centre, Stax, Unimer, Decco, Ronseal, Hitachi Power Tools, RoDo, Tembe, Aliaxis, Poores of Acton, BIRA and QEP-Vitrex Homelux.

The 2014 RDT Golf Classic takes place on October 2.
