The Builders Merchant Federation (BMF) is the latest company to sign up to the Rainy Day Trust's partnership scheme and has added a donation of £4,000 following its recent conference in Portugal.
Industry charity Rainy Day Trust was selected by the BMF, now based in Coventry, as its nominated charity for the next 12 months. Said BMF md John Newcomb: "The Rainy Day Trust has been assisting those from our industry for many years and we wanted to give something back. We are delighted, therefore, to become a formal partner of the industry charity - and extend our support to those who have played an active role in our industry over the years.
"We were thrilled to raise £4,000 at our recent conference in Portugal by auctioning an England shirt signed by ex England captain and manager, Martin Johnson, and a Lions shirt signed by ex Lions player and keynote speaker at the conference Austin Healey, and adding this to the charity pot - a great start to our partnership."
The Rainy Day Trust has been helping people from the DIY, builders merchant, housewares and related industries since 1843, assisting those who have fallen on hard times with one off grants and annual pensions. The charity's board was recently boosted by the addition of two trustees from this industry sector with Andy Williamson (IKO Group) and James Norton (Frank Key).
