Dame Ellen MacArthur joined Kingfisher ceo Ian Cheshire, B&Q ceo Euan Sutherland and Minister of State for Energy and Climate Change Greg Barker at the Houses of Parliament to learn more about how the retailer is helping consumers to make their homes more sustainable.
B&Q is one of four founding partners of Dame MacArthur's new charity The Ellen MacArthur Foundation, which aims to inspire young people to re-think, re-design and build a sustainable future.
The DIY chain has set challenging targets for itself as a business, including a 15% reduction in packaging and for 90% of all waste to be reclaimed, recycled or composted by 2012.
B&Q is set to introduce its new 'best in class' eco brand Home Eco into stores this month.
