Growing media supplier Durston Garden Products has recorded its highest sales figures ever since the company was established in 1860, despite the continued economic downturn and poor weather.
Somerset-based Durstons saw a phenomenal 46% increase in its sales last month, with company director Chris Durston attributing the success to a combination of factors. These include the company's strong reputation in the industry as well as the appointment of a new national sales manager, Ruth Green, and the support of a dedicated factory team.
The company has also invested in a sustained PR campaign with Papillon Publicity. Said Ms Green: "When buyers experience the service we provide, they rarely go anywhere else."
Thanks to its recent sales boost, the company is confident of a bright future, with better weather in June promising a good harvest for 2014. "It's all about holding your nerve and keeping calm," said Mr Durston.
