Robotic lawnmower company Robomow has announced a new partnership with the UK electricals retailer that will see its products stocked online and in store.
The new deal means that selected Robomow models will be available at 39 Maplin stores across the UK and the full range of six models, with accessories, through the Maplin online store from this month.
Robomow reported its best-ever UK sales in 2014 - increasing by 136% during the peak period from March , which signals the start of the lawn mowing season, compared with the same period in 2013. This steady increase in sales is expected to continue in 2015, said the company, with UK results climbing to match those of mainland Europe, where robotic lawnmowers are one of the fastest-growing categories of garden product.
Maplin Direct managing director Oliver Meakin said of the partnership: "Robomow is a perfect brand fit for Maplin. Robotic lawnmowers offer an innovative technology solution for the new smart home and we believe that the models will be quickly adopted by UK homeowners this year."
Managing director of Mower Magic, the UK distributor for Robomow, John Hall commented: "The popularity of robotic lawnmowers in the UK has been steadily on the rise, particularly over the last five years. In that time technology has improved performance, new innovations introduced and barriers to sale diminished... Maplin customers are looking to new technology to offer more and save time and Robomow helps meet that aspiration."
